Bringing a different kind of food to the hungry, First United Methodist Church seeks to offer beauty to the community through music and the fine arts.
To that end, Fine Arts at First was founded as an outreach ministry of First United Methodist Church to invite Kenosha and surrounding communities to attend quality concerts and recitals in a religious environment filled with history, unique architecture, a magnificent pipe organ, and a world-class Böesendorfer concert grand piano. Our inaugural season was the 2005-2006 series.
Each Sunday afternoon performance within the nave of our acoustic sanctuary concludes with a reception in the beautiful Bauer-King Hall where you may chat with performers and enjoy dessert.
Mark your calendar as we invite you to enjoy this year’s incredible performances with your friends and family!
Meet the Director
Jessica DeBoer is originally from the Washington, D.C. area, but grew up across the Lake in Holland, Michigan. She is a graduate of Hope College (Holland, MI) with a Bachelor’s of Music in Viola Performance. From there she went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned her MA in Music Theory. She and her husband moved to Kenosha in 2005 when he took a job as an orchestra teacher with the Kenosha Unified School District.
In addition to working with Fine Arts at First, Jessica teaches private lessons in viola and violin, plays viola with the Kenosha and Racine Symphonies, is the music librarian for both symphonies, and performs with other area chamber orchestras and with her string quartet, Preludio Strings. She is a stay-at-home mom of two daughters and if she actually has some time left over in the day, she likes to run, read and cross stitch.
